CIRCUIT is pleased to invite applications for the 2026 Mana Moana Residency.

This 10-week, full-time residency will support an emerging Pasifika practitioner to work with CIRCUIT, developing skills and experience relevant to a potential career in curation, arts management, and artist support across both online and public platforms.

The residency will have a particular focus on showcasing the work of Pasifika artists. It will also involve participation in CIRCUIT’s day-to-day activities, providing valuable professional development, practical experience, and sector knowledge.

The residency is based onsite at CIRCUIT’s new offices and public space (Level 2, 27 Dixon Street, Wellington) and cannot be undertaken remotely.

This residency is supported by Pasifika Arts at Creative New Zealand, the Arts Council of New Zealand.

Tasks

The resident will:

• Review CIRCUIT’s online collection of Pasifika work at www.circuit.org.nz and identify artists for potential inclusion in the catalogue

• Research and write at least three editorial pieces on Pasifika contemporary practitioners

• Update Pasifika artist content on the CIRCUIT website (including videos, biographies, installation images, and synopses)

• Develop social media content to promote Pasifika work presented onsite

• Curate and present at least one screening or installation of Pasifika artist’s work in CIRCUIT’s public space

• Work with the Director and Board to develop a strategy for ongoing engagement with and support of Pasifika artists and communities

• Provide day-to-day production support for CIRCUIT’s public events and professional development activities

Skills Required

Applicants should demonstrate:

• A strong interest in contemporary art in Aotearoa, particularly artist moving image practice
• Experience in art writing
• Critical thinking skills
• Strong interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, self-motivation, and adaptability
• Competency in IT and administrative tasks (including word processing, internet research, and email)
• Familiarity with social media platforms
• Attention to detail
• The ability to work collaboratively, remain calm under pressure, and take initiative
• Good time management and the ability to meet deadlines

Experience with video or audio editing software is an advantage but not essential.

Remuneration

$33 per hour, based on a 35-hour work week over 10 weeks.
