Nau mai, haere mai to CIRCUIT's 10th Anniversary. 2022 marks a decade of CIRCUIT and to celebrate we're launching a new website.
Over the past year we've been working on a full redevelopment of our site: new design, layout, navigation, features, and links between works and commentary.
We've talked to artists on CIRCUIT and our audience of curators, students, artists, writers, and art professionals to develop a site that better meets their needs.
What has changed?
Based on feedback from our audience, the new website is:
expansive and uncluttered, a great space to watch video art, read essays, see images, and listen to podcasts
a linked site, where artists and works are elegantly linked to CIRCUIT's writing, podcasts, and projects
easier to search, across CIRCUIT's catalogue and growing archive of commentary
filled with te reo Māori in our navigation, headings, and some body text
curate-able, with a new playlist function that lets people curate and play a series of works
a more accessible site, with improved design, layout, and alt text for those with vision or other disabilities.
With over 6000 pages on CIRCUIT, this has been a lot of mahi! But we're delighted with the result, and hope you are too.
Ngā mihi e te whānau
Thanks to our development team, The Hit Factory, for taking on this project with us, and building this elegant and functional site.
Thanks to Duncan Munro, the designer of CIRCUIT's first logo, who continued his work with us and designed our new colour palette and logo.
Tēnā koe, Stephanie Tibble, who worked closely with us to translate CIRCUIT's mahi into te reo Māori. Ngā mihi nui ki a koe.
Thanks also to all the people who filled in surveys, did user testing, and critiqued the many iterations of the site. Your whakaaro were invaluable.
Ngā mihi Creative New Zealand for funding this project.
