Marie Shannon's The Rooms in the House (2016) was recently included in a three-day series of film screenings in Kathmandu, Nepal. Held over 6–8 May 2025, the programme brought together works by seven women filmmakers that each hold space for reflection, resistance, and reimagination.

The artists included Reena Mohan, Marie Shannon, Cristina Riofrio, Margaux Dauby, Sylvia Schedelbauer, Pushpa Rawat and Anupama Srinivasan, and Chantal Akerman.

"A set of films that recruit, meld, refuse, distort, expand, and reconfigure the prevalent shapes of cinematic grammar to invoke contemplations of womanhood and its various enactments."

Curated with the assistance of Anuj Malhotra of the Kaddukkas collective in New Delhi, India, to accompany the exhibition some things in the belly at the Nepal Art Council, Kathmandu.
