Serena Bentley is CIRCUIT's 2019 curator-at-large. She will curate our annual programme of Artist Cinema Commissions, which invites up to five artists to create a new work for cinema in response to a prompt set by the curator. The Artist Cinema Commissions will premiere in Wellington in late 2019.

Serena Bentley is a curator and art writer from Aotearoa based in Melbourne. She is currently Curator at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI). Prior to this, she was Assistant Curator, Contemporary Art, at the National Gallery of Victoria. Serena has worked as Artistic Program Manager at artist development organisation Next Wave and in commercial galleries including: Anna Schwartz Gallery, Melbourne; Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery, Sydney and Starkwhite, Auckland, as well as a Curatorial Assistant at Auckland Art Gallery. She has also been an Australia Council visual arts peer assessor, the recipient of a travel grant from the Ian Potter Foundation and a curatorial resident at Cemeti Art House in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
