Bubblegum (2007)

6 min 12 secSingle channel / Digital Video / Colour / Silent

Facing the camera, the artist stuffs multiple pieces of gum into her mouth. She periodocally takes it out as one congealed or stretched lump, before resuming her chewing, and near choking. A sense of panic is evoked by the sped up playback of the video. Halfway through the video, the camera cuts to the artist standing outside on a parkbench. She bends over and releases lumps of gum from her mouth on to the pavement which fall in large misshapen coloured lumps.
