The Golliwog shares its lineage which started in 1895 as a caricature in the books, The Adventures of Two Dutch Dolls and a Golliwog. The Golliwog characters were made into dolls and collectible merchandise before being used in Agatha Christie’s novel Ten Little Niggers. Inspired by the blackface minstrels, a style of theatre that depicted black slaves for comic entertainment."
