The Strap 2 (2019)

4 min 40 secSingle channel / Digital Video / Colour / Sound

"One of nine videos from The Strap, a 2019 installation using found leather offcuts to generate a series of musical instruments and graphic scores. Performers are instructed to create a musical improvisation utilising the leather clackers as rhythm makers with accents generated by slapping the palms of other participants. The work gently references the history of corporal punishment in Aotearoa." - Jeff Henderson
