Whakahokia was a beachside restoration and performance event in partnership with members of Ngāti Tukorehe iwi, held at Kuku Ōhau estuary on 8 March 2025. Participants removed invasive maram grass from a beach dune and returned it to State Highway 1, 7km away, before the foothills of Ōtararere and Poroporo, and beneath te pae maunga o Tararua.
