Whakahokia was a beachside restoration and performance event in partnership with members of Ngāti Tukorehe iwi, held at Kuku beach on 8 March 2025. Participants removed invasive maram grass from a beach dune and returned it to State Highway 1, 7km away, underneath the tūpuna maunga Tararua.
