David Cowlard is a Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland-based artist, curator, and educator. Working with moving image, photography, field recordings, and sound design, Cowlard's practice explores how contemporary urban environments inform rhythms of use and habitation. Cowlard is interested in an experimental, observational type of documentary that often employs repetition and audio mixing to reframe the forms and sounds of the city. His work has been exhibited, screened, and broadcast widely in Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally.
