Elbow Room (2018)

3 min 23 secSingle channel / 8mm / transferred to Digital Video / Black & White / Sound

Elbow Room focuses on the Modernist architecture of central Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland City. Filmed on a single cassette of Kodak Tri-X Super 8 film, Elbow Room is focused on the high contrast urban fabric and was edited 'in camera.' The work's title is a reference to Walter Benjamin’s idea of elbow room as a "space to live in."

Originally filmed and screened as part of the Auckland Super 8 x 8 film challenge, 2018.
