A Man Without A Factory

Time is spent on activities that drift between the descriptive borders of ‘useful’, ‘rebellious’ and ‘silly’. Why does the man not have a factory? What motivation does he have for these immediate and earnestly industrious hobbies? The dirt mound in the foreground contrasts sharply with the buildings in the background, and a narrative context can be found in the emergent meaning that exists between these two domains.

Part of the ‘Work’ project (2008), an investigation into the relationship between productivity and identity.
