"This work addresses the ongoing impacts of the AIDS crisis and the stigma of being trans/queer through use of both makeup and passive aggressive performative action. In fact the most notable performative moment within the work sees me lying on the floor with a sick tiredness deliberately accentuated by makeup. I make no attempt to cover up how I feel—to look or to act well—given that queer love, lives and rights are the subject that the show (Tainted Love, at Canberra Contemporary Art Space (CCAS), curated by David Broker 2019), and I are responding to."
