Clean Up Before She Comes (2007)

4 min 58 secSingle channel / Digital Video / Colour / Sound

With extreme letterboxing, Clean Up Before She Comes crops to threadbare Gen X band T-shirts jogging in slow motion. Occasionally the video cuts away to an individual performing warm up exercises. The video was created upon invitation from artist/curator Caroline Johnston to make a work in response to the legacy of Kurt Cobain for the show Territorial Pissings (The Engine Room, Massey University Wellington). The video pitches the cynicism of Gen X post punks against the grim reality of growing old, continuing Galloway’s use of the awkward, embarrassing, and autobiographical.
