Endless Column (2003)

1 min 21 secSingle channel / Digital Video / Sound

The Endless Column is a lift shaft that moves up and down through Auckland city at night. As soon as the bottom of the tower is reached the lift begins to ascend. The soundtrack suggests an object rolling down a shaft. At the bottom the sound reverses as the lift climbs again. Form, image and audio are mirrored in the structure of the work.

'Light of the Pacific' group show, Brussels, Almelo, Holland SPARK, Media conference, 2004, WINTEC, Hamilton, New Zealand.
