Majo (2011)

3 min 5 secSingle channel / Digital Video / Colour / Sound

A three-minute film set to the soundtrack of Dario Argento’s 1977 Italian horror film Suspiria. Embracing the lo-fi genre, Majo was shot in the Carr’s bathroom using a laptop camera. It is a self-portrait single take performance that documents Carr interacting with a Japanese children’s plastic bubble-making toy. The film is edited and responds to the original strangeness of the toy and its chemical smell. Majo was made in the first week of a three-month residency in Sapporo, Japan.
