Leisure Week

An installation of three video works conceived for Aratoi's exhibition changeover period.

Featuring works by Clinton Watkins, Christina Read and Layne Waerea, Leisure Week infuses the NZ sublime with land rights, digital distortion and a DIY approach to absorbing culture and ideas.

Installed for Aratoi’s exhibition changeover period, during which the gallery is closed but remains open as a gift shop and a gateway to the tourist information centre.

A person is jogging across a grassy field in the early morning. The landscape is covered in thick fog, blurring the horizon line. We can see the red glow from sunrise. The person running appears slightly mid-air, in between steps. The dawn makes them look like a silhouette on the land. The grass is covered in dew or frost.
