It explores emotional connections to landscapes, communities, and cultural practices that shape our identity and reflect broader national and geopolitical contexts. For Lee, batik textiles, the gentle curves of banana leaves, the call to prayer, and the rhythm of paddy harvesting serve as sensory gateways to her Indonesian past. The work maps absence and presence, longing and belonging, tracing what is lost and what endures through memory, ritual, and reimagination.
