Night Arrangements (2006)

5 minSingle channel / Digital Video / Colour / Sound

The video begins at night, with the handheld camera tracing through the edges of an urban wasteland. We hear footsteps (presumably of the operator/protagonist) walking on gravel. We see a series of symbols on the ground, which have been created by arranging rubbish and sticks. On the voiceover a deep voice describes meeting someone who watches them and asks if they have copied their design. “I said 'No… this is my design'”.

Part of a series of instructional videos made between 2005-2010 that were sent out with different accessories as part of a mail-based participation game. Their premise was to show participants how to perform different tasks and how to take part in a covert communication system through the use of various collusive actions, markings and signals. Initially they also incorporated a points and prizes system.
